Our osteopaths have extensive experience in treating sporting injuries
Whatever your level of sport, injuries happen. We offer treatment to anyone who gets a sporting injury. We can help you recover, restore normal function and prevent further injury.
Sports injuries are usually caused by overuse, direct impact or a force on a part of your body that’s greater than it can structurally withstand. Other parts of your body can also suffer as they compensate for your injury.
Our osteopaths will explain the cause of your sports injury (if not trauma related) and provide you with a diagnosis, treatment plan and rehabilitation program.
Common sports injuries we see in clinic are (non exhaustive list):
- Stress fractures
- Ligament strains at all joints; ankle, knee, and hip
- Muscle strains and tears
- Achilles tendonitis/tears
- Hip impingement and labral tears
- ‘Clicky hip’ syndrome
- Plantar fasciitis
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Spinal injuries
- IIliotibial band syndrome (ITBS)
What your injury might feel like
Sports injuries are commonly, but not always associated with some level of muscle or joint swelling, bruising, redness and pain. You may also be experiencing weakness or even numbness.
How we treat sports injuries
We’ll ask you questions to understand how your injury happened and your history with the sport before the injury occurred. We’ll then assess your injury and, depending on what stage your injury is at, provide treatment, or injury management advice.
It’s very likely that we’ll also give you exercises to do at home, recommend classes in our studio or take you into our gym for a more dynamic approach to recovery and rehabilitation.
